Nathan James is seeking a Creative Director to own the creative strategy and execution for all video ads, commercials, and static assets at Nathan James. ABOUT THE ROLE:
Since 2016, Nathan James has focused on designing furniture that allows customers to save thousands of dollars while creating their dream home. We built the business through online retail channels and have since shifted our focus to our direct to consumer model, owning the end-to-end experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop direct response video and static creative ads that showcase our furniture in lifestyle settings. Content is primarily advertised on Meta with YouTube and CTV on the horizon.
- Test a high volume of assets per month, balancing concept diversity with quality.
- Lead the development and execution of integrated campaigns from creative brief to final asset. You’ll ensure each campaign has a clear objective, a distinct point of view, and measurable outcomes.
- Use historic ad performance to inform future strategy and iterations.
- Deeply understand and amplify Nathan James’ story through compelling narratives that resonate with modern homeowners and apartment dwellers.
- Collaborate with the Merchandising team to ensure a seamless customer journey.
- Manage external production partners, including photographers, videographers, editors, agencies, and creators to deliver work on time and on budget.
- Leverage your existing network of trusted freelancers and agencies to move quickly from concept to final assets.
- Establish and maintain a robust system for all creative asset creation and storage to ensure on-time delivery and easy tracking.
- Develop and own a portfolio of repeatable content franchises that build brand recognition over time.
Collectively, these responsibilities will drive measurable improvements in advertising performance (ROAS), brand awareness, and long-term loyalty, positioning Nathan James as the defining brand for the design-forward, value-conscious homeowner.

ABOUT YOU:
You’re a seasoned Creative Director with a proven ability to craft scroll-stopping, high-converting creative for direct-to-consumer brands. You live and breathe visual storytelling, especially for lifestyle and home categories. You have a sharp instinct for what makes people stop, feel, and buy. You excel at managing external talent while owning the full creative process from concept to final asset. Most importantly, you’re excited to help tell the Nathan James story: quality, stylish design made accessible for real homes and real life.
- 5+ years of experience as a Creative Director (or role equivalent), with a standout portfolio in short-form video and static ads as well as video commercials.
- Strong background in a DTC furniture or home brand doing $100M+ in annual revenue.
- Expert at leading video production and static shoots, with deep knowledge of social-first trends (Reels, TikTok, Meta, etc.) and direct-response advertising principles.
- You’re passionate about home design and making beautiful, attainable furniture feel inspiring and desirable.
- You bring an established network of top-tier photographers, videographers, editors, and production partners so you can hit the ground running and deliver fast without needing an in-house team.
- Data-driven yet creatively fearless: you test, iterate, and optimize relentlessly to improve attention, engagement, and sales.
- You’re comfortable using digital tools such as Airtable, Google Workspace, Slack and are eager to learn and utilize the latest AI tools if outputs meet high standards.
- Proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or Canva. You don't need to be a production designer, but you need to be fluent enough to build, review, and adjust creative assets without relying on outside help.
- You're highly organized and can deliver assets on time, on budget, and on brief.
- You thrive working in a lean team and not afraid to get your hands dirty.
- Able to travel across North America to shoot as needed.
You have high standards, you’ve seen great, and want to implement great. You manage yourself well, hold yourself to a high standard, and understand how your work and energy affect the people around you.
You’ll report to the VP of Sales & Marketing and join a lean marketing team to maximize creative output and performance.
For this role, we do require that your normal workday has at least 4 hours overlap with EST timezone without impinging on your personal/family life. Our salaries are competitive for similar roles based in the country you will be working from.
This is a remote role since we are a remote company. With the freedom and flexibility of a remote role comes the luxury to work in whichever manner helps you perform your best! However, this ideal is best coupled with an individual who has a keen ability to self-regulate and self-manage.
Our team works from home offices, co-working spaces, and coffee shops. You’ll find us in places that foster effective writing, self-discipline, and comfort with open communication.
