We’re seeking a Creative Director to join UNR’s growing creative team and help develop culturally relevant, emotionally resonant and platform-native work across creator-led content, branded entertainment and integrated productions. This person will play a key role in shaping compelling storytelling, developing creator-forward ideas and helping bring ambitious content to life for modern audiences.
This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a creatively driven, hybrid environment: part storyteller, part writer, part strategist and part culture-builder. We’re looking for a highly collaborative creative partner with exceptional writing instincts, strong conceptual thinking and a deep understanding of creator ecosystems, audience behavior, internet culture and emerging content formats.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting directly to the Chief Creative Officer, the Creative Director will lead creative development across creator-led storytelling, branded entertainment, social, experiential and integrated productions. This role will partner closely with creative, production and strategy leadership to help execute and elevate UNR’s creative vision across campaigns, content and entertainment properties.
You will oversee projects from concept through execution, guiding creative thinking, shaping narratives and ensuring a high level of quality across all deliverables. This role requires a strong writer who can develop compelling concepts, scripts, treatments, episodic formats, messaging frameworks, presentations and story-driven creative across multiple platforms and audience types.
The ideal candidate understands what makes modern content resonate, not just creatively, but culturally, editorially and behaviorally. They should be deeply plugged into creators, internet culture, platform trends and evolving audience expectations, with the ability to develop ideas that feel native to modern content ecosystems while still delivering strong creative and strategic value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Creative Leadership
- Provide senior creative leadership across assigned projects, campaigns and accounts, ensuring strong storytelling, creative thinking, craft and execution across all deliverables.
- Partner closely with the Chief Creative Officer and cross-functional leadership teams to help execute creative priorities and bring creative vision to life.
- Demonstrate thought leadership and practical implementation across AI and generative technologies, film, video, design, social, experiential, creator-led storytelling and emerging media ecosystems.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Strategy and Client teams to align creative ambition with operational execution and client objectives.
- Represent UNR in creative conversations, pitches, and client engagements as needed
2. Creative Development & Execution
- Lead creative development across multiple formats from brief, ideation and treatment development through production, post-production and final delivery, ensuring consistency and quality throughout.
- Oversee creative concepts, scripts, visual narratives, pitch materials, presentations and integrated campaign development.
- Partner closely with directors, editors, producers, strategists, designers, creators and multidisciplinary collaborators to shape compelling creative work.
- Provide guidance, mentorship and actionable feedback to internal teams and external creative partners.
- Help ensure creative excellence, storytelling cohesion and cultural relevance across assigned projects and campaigns.
- Drive the thoughtful adoption of Generative AI and emerging creative technologies across concepting, visual development, storytelling and production workflows while maintaining strong creative standards and ethical guardrails.
- Champion experimentation, innovation and platform-native storytelling while ensuring the work remains strategically grounded and emotionally resonant.
3. Team Leadership, Development & Culture
- Mentor and inspire creatives to produce exceptional work across the creative ecosystem while fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Foster a proactive, highly creative, supportive and solutions-oriented environment that builds on UNR’s “maker” mentality and craft culture.
- Model strong creative partnership and collaboration across teams, clients and productions.
- Help cultivate an environment where experimentation, curiosity and innovation thrive without compromising quality or execution.
4. Client & Agency Relationship Leadership
- Serve as a senior creative partner for clients, agency stakeholders and collaborators across assigned accounts and projects.
- Build strong working relationships with agency partners and external clients to support long-term creative partnerships.
- Lead and support pitches, creative presentations, campaign development and storytelling initiatives.
- Champion a “find a way” mindset; warm, collaborative, fast and solutions-oriented.
- Translate client objectives into compelling creative opportunities that elevate both the work and the partnership.
5. Business Development & Brand Expansion
- Help showcase new talent, creative approaches, storytelling formats, technologies and cultural opportunities that support UNR’s continued growth and creative reputation.
- Identify emerging creative opportunities, talent and evolving platform behaviors across entertainment, social and creator ecosystems.
- Partner with leadership on pitches, business development opportunities and strategic creative initiatives.
WHO YOU ARE
- A seasoned creative leader with 10–15+ years across integrated campaigns, live action, branded entertainment, social, design, post-production and emerging creative technologies.
- Experience in production companies, entertainment, creator ecosystems, media brands or in-house creative environments.
- A strong creative partner who balances creative ambition with operational awareness and production realities.
- Equally strong in taste and strategy, able to identify compelling creative opportunities and clearly articulate why they matter culturally, creatively and commercially.
- Deep understanding of modern content ecosystems, audience engagement and platform-native storytelling across entertainment, social and creator environments.
- Comfortable balancing craft, commerce, creativity and culture.
- Hands on vs hands off. Rolls sleeves up and works through creative challenges at eye level with teams.
- Entrepreneurial, resourceful and excited to help grow a modern creative business.
