Optimising is seeking a sharp, story-driven Content Executive to join our team in our Melbourne office (currently on a 3/2 office/WFH roster).
The Job: Content Executive
Content is how brands earn attention, authority, and answers, whether that's ranking on Google, being cited by ChatGPT, or getting quoted in the AFR. In this role, you'll write the kind of content that actually gets read, shared, and referenced.
Reporting into our senior team and working alongside our SEO, digital PR and strategy specialists, you'll produce content across a range of client industries, from national consumer brands to niche B2B. You'll have support and mentorship as you grow, but also real ownership of your work from day one.
As part of our team, you will:
- Write blog posts, guides, landing pages, and thought leadership pieces that rank in Google and get cited by AI answer engines
- Turn research, data, and expert interviews into clear, compelling narratives
- Develop creative content concepts for digital PR campaigns, from data-led studies to opinion-driven pieces
- Interview clients and subject matter experts to extract the good stuff and turn it into content
- Optimise your writing for SEO without making it read like it was written for robots
- Edit and proof work from teammates and external contributors
- Contribute to brainstorms and campaign ideation, bringing sharp angles and cultural awareness
- Keep across news cycles, industry shifts, and how AI answer engines are surfacing and citing content
- Report on content performance to internal teams and clients, and use the learnings to sharpen the next piece
About you
- You can write. Genuinely write. You care about a good opening line, you hate clichés, and you know the difference between clear and dumbed-down
- You understand how good content supports SEO, brand authority, and AI search visibility
- You're curious about what makes a story land, and just as curious about why one doesn't
- You can take a brief, ask the right questions, and turn a loose idea into a finished piece
- You're comfortable interviewing people and pulling out the quote or angle that makes the piece work
- You can manage multiple deadlines without dropping balls or quality
- You take feedback well and use it to get better
- You stay curious about emerging technologies, with a growing interest in how AI tools can sharpen research, drafting, and editorial workflows (while knowing when not to use them)
You have
- At least 1 year of experience in a content, editorial, PR, or journalism role (agency, in-house, publisher, or newsroom)
- A portfolio or clip file you can walk us through
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A working knowledge of SEO, particularly how content structure, intent, and linking contribute to performance
- Started experimenting with AI tools and interested in how they can improve your work
