Overview
Content Engineer @ Vola.ro Jobs in Bucharest, Romania at Vola.ro
Vola is hiring a Content Engineer. It's for someone who loves matching performance marketing with craft.
We are Romania's largest online travel agency, operating across Romania, Poland, and Bulgaria. We're looking for someone to lead our entire content stack – newsletters, push notifications, SEO, website copy A/B testing and more.
You have the resources and tools in place, your job is to design the system and bring incremental growth.
Why this role exists
Most of our customers will never read a feature spec. They read what you write. The price drop email, the deal finder copy, the landing page, the push notification, the onboarding flow. Every one of those is a moment where a sentence either earns trust and a booking, or loses both. We have shipped a lot of AI lately and the product is moving fast. What is missing is one person who makes all of it sound like a single sharp, human, trustworthy voice, and who treats every piece of copy as an instrument with a performance metric attached to it.
Writer plus operator
This is the part most people fail. We are not hiring a writer who hopes the work performs. We are hiring someone who knows the difference between copy that reads well and copy that sells, and can tell you why based on metrics and measurement. You will form a hypothesis about what will convert, write it, ship it, read the result, and iterate. You will partner closely with our data and analytics team, but the performance of your copy is yours to own, not theirs to police. The job is finding the line where creativity and conversion stop fighting and start compounding. If you think measuring writing cheapens it, this is the wrong room.
What you will own
Not "support content." The whole surface. Launch narratives for new AI features, the copy inside the product, email campaigns that go to a large list, landing pages, the help content people read when they are stressed at an airport. You set the bar for how Vola sounds in writing, you hold the rest of the company to it, and you stand behind the numbers it produces. You will write far more than you manage. This is a craft and performance seat, not a coordination seat.
In your first six months you will
- Own and rewrite one core revenue surface (booking flow, price drop emails, or a flagship AI feature) and prove the lift with a clean before and after on conversion or engagement
- Stand up a real testing rhythm with analytics: hypotheses, variants, readouts, and decisions that stick, so copy improvement becomes a system and not a guess
- Ship the launch narrative for a new AI product that becomes the reference other teams copy
- Define what "good writing" means here and build the editorial bar that holds as we scale to new markets
You are probably right for this if you
- Write with unusual clarity. You can make a booking flow or an AI feature feel obvious and make a stranger act.
- Have taste and can prove it. Three great written pieces beat ten years of titles.
- Are fluent in your own performance data. You think in opens, clicks, CTR, and conversion, you can sit with an analyst as a peer, and you change your writing based on what the numbers say without being told twice.
- Think in systems and workflows – not just one off email send-outs
- Treat copy as a conversion instrument, not decoration, and can hold both creativity and performance in your head at once without sacrificing either.
- Edit ruthlessly, including your own best lines, especially when a duller variant wins.
- Move fast in ambiguity. You write the first useful draft of something nobody has explained yet, on a deadline, and improve it live.
- Act like an owner. You fix the thing that reads badly or converts badly without waiting for a brief.
Bonus, not required
- You have written for product or growth at a company that ships fast and measures everything
- You have run real A/B tests on copy and can talk through what you learned
- You have an opinion about how AI changes content work, and ideas about using it as a tool rather than fearing it
- You write strong English and native quality Romanian, and you care how meaning and persuasion survive between them
What we do not care about
- Your degree. We care what you can do.
- Prior travel experience. We will teach you the domain. We cannot teach taste or the instinct for what sells.
How we hire: show, do not tell
Most people will not read this far. Prove that you did.
Your application is a cold pitch, not an automated LinkedIn application. Tell me what makes you the perfect candidate for this role and how the first 3 months would look like if you were to come on board in a cold email (first name last name @ company domain) or DM to Matei Psatta.
That is the whole test. No brief, no word count, no template. We are testing for the things the job actually requires: can you find a hook, hold attention from a standing start, make a stranger care, and create a workflow.
Follow ups are encouraged.
