Overview

Cinematographer & Editor – Mid Level Jobs in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia at SIRAP

Mid-Level Cinematographer & Editor

Melbourne-based. Full-time.

About SIRAP

SIRAP is an award-winning film-led content studio creating premium films and content for brands across property, design, lifestyle, and culture. With a reputation for craft, storytelling, and exceptional client service, we partner with leading organisations to bring powerful ideas to life on screen. We are a close-knit team who value creativity, precision, and collaboration. Every project we take on is treated with care, intention, and ambition to deliver best-in-class work.

About the Role

We are looking for a Mid-Level Cinematographer & Editor to join our team and play a pivotal role across the end-to-end production and post-production process. This role is more geared towards cinematography than editing but will be a blend of both. This role blends technical craft with creative input — behind the camera on location, and in the edit suite shaping rushes into work that lasts. You'll be a trusted collaborator to producers, crew and clients, a strong visual storyteller, and a maker who ensures every project is delivered on time, on standard, and above expectation.

Key Responsibilities

Cinematography & Production Craft

• Shoot across the full breadth of SIRAP's output — brand and corporate films, architectural, design, lifestyle and property work, cultural campaigns, social content, event documentation, and commercials.

• Confidently direct talent and creative vision while shooting as required on set – as a one man band or as part of a larger crew

• Operate confidently across cinema cameras (Sony suite), lighting setups, and audio capture, choosing the right tools for each project.

• Fly drone for architectural, landscape, and narrative coverage to a commercial standard.

• Operate gimbals (DJI) across run-and-gun, architectural and narrative work.

• Record location sound to a broadcast-ready standard, including lavalier and boom setups for interview and brand work.

• Work fluidly as a one-person crew when the project calls for it, and slot cleanly into a larger crew — as DP, second operator or specialist — when it does not.

• Maintain SIRAP's technical standard across colour, sound and finishing

Editing & Post-Production

• Edit your own work and footage shot by others — building structure, pacing and emotional logic for brand films and social first creative approaches for social content from rushes through to final master.

• Operate fluently in Premiere Pro, with working knowledge of After Effects for motion graphics, titling and light compositing.

• Manage post-production workflows end-to-end, including Frame.io review cycles, ClickUp project tracking, and modern delivery pipelines.

• Champion the integration of AI tools and techniques into editing and broader production workflows — from transcription and rough assembly to audio cleanup, image and video generation. Hold a considered view on where these tools belong and where they do not.

Creative Contribution

• Contribute to creative direction at the brief stage — bringing a visual point of view to treatments, shot lists, and concept development.

• Collaborate with producers and editors to bring creative ideas to life on screen.

• Help set and maintain the visual benchmark for SIRAP's output, mentoring junior crew and freelancers in craft and standards.

• Contribute to creative brainstorms across the studio, inspiring considered approaches to story and image.

Delivery & Standards

• Quality-control your own work and the work of others, ensuring creative integrity and brand alignment.

• Manage your time and workload across multiple projects, hitting schedules and milestones reliably.

• Resolve technical and creative challenges quickly and calmly, keeping projects on track under pressure.

• Maintain a working knowledge of SIRAP's gear, edit infrastructure and storage systems, and advocate for investment where it lifts the work.

Culture & Collaboration

• Act as a culture leader within the studio, bringing positivity, accountability, and collaborative energy.

• Support the continuous development of SIRAP's brand reputation by championing best-in-class work.

• Contribute ideas beyond your own projects, supporting colleagues in delivering excellent outcomes.

About You

• 4+ years' experience as a cinematographer/editor, or hybrid practitioner in content, film, or advertising. Portfolio matters more than years.

• full time access to a fully maintained car

• A strong technical understanding across the full chain — cinema cameras, lighting equipment, gimbals, sound recording, post-production software, and the computer hardware that runs it.

• Drone experience and a current CASA RePL (or the willingness to obtain one).

• Confident gimbal operation across a range of shooting contexts.

• Hands-on sound recording experience on location.

• Fluency in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, with working knowledge of After Effects.

• Genuine fluency with AI tools across editing and production, and a considered view on their use.

• The flexibility to work solo or within a bigger crew, with the same level of craft either way.

• An eye trained on the things that matter — light, composition, materiality, restraint.

• Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.

• A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with internal teams and external partners.

• Resilient, solutions-focused, and confident working under pressure.

• A current Australian driver's licence and the right to work in Australia.

Why Join SIRAP

• Be part of an award-winning studio with a reputation for excellence.

• Work across a diverse mix of premium brands and industries.

• Join a collaborative, tight-knit team that values creativity and ambition.

• Opportunity to shape creative ideas and see them through to execution.

• A culture that embraces innovation, including the integration of emerging technologies into creative workflows.

• A studio that invests in craft — equipment, software, time, training.
