Photographer/Videographer (Construction & Industrial Focus)
The Photographer/Videographer (Part-Time) supports Black & McDonald by producing compelling, story‑driven visual content that highlights our people, projects, and operations across Canada. This role is ideal for a creative professional skilled in construction and industrial photography/videography, on-site field capture, end-to-end production, and translating real-world work into powerful visual narratives.
The successful candidate will conduct field shoots at active job sites, work closely with HSE to obtain required approvals, and deliver polished imagery and video that bring our stories to life. Because this role involves working in industrial environments, safety training and certifications are strongly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Photography & On-Site Content Capture (Primary Focus)
- Capture high-quality construction, industrial, and jobsite photography including project progress, environmental shots, and people‑at‑work imagery.
- Conduct on-site shoots at various project locations, adhering to all site-entry requirements, consent protocol, PPE protocols, and HSE direction.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand standards, visual guidelines, and safety expectations.
Video Production
- Film video content such as interviews, project walkthroughs, site activities, equipment operation, and brand features.
- Craft engaging visual stories by editing footage into polished videos for internal and external audiences.
- Use creative storytelling techniques to communicate the purpose, impact, and human side of our work.
Multimedia & Digital Content Support
- Edit images and videos using Adobe Creative Suite tools (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop).
- Produce reels, short-form content, and branded assets that support corporate communication initiatives.
- Maintain brand consistency across all visual deliverables.
Project & Workflow Management
- Coordinate with internal teams to plan site visits, understand project milestones, and identify storytelling opportunities.
- Work closely with HSE to secure required approvals before shooting, during on-site activities, and prior to content release.
- Manage multiple assignments and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
- Execute end-to-end production, including planning, field capture, asset management, editing, and final delivery.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Part-time:
Approximately 24 hours per week (flexible based on project needs). - Availability for periodic on-site shoots during standard working hours is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or degree in photography, multimedia production, communications, or a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in construction, industrial, or field photography/videography.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
- Strong creative storytelling abilities with an eye for composition, lighting, and detail.
- Ability to work independently on job sites while following all safety protocols.
- Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Certifications / Training
- WHMIS / site safety training
- Experience navigating construction or industrial environments safely
The expected hourly range for this role is between $25-$30 per hour. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package.
