Role Description The Cake Decorator is a full-time, on-site role based in Stockport. This role involves designing and decorating cakes to customer specifications, including piping, fondant work, and custom themes. Day-to-day tasks include preparing cake bases, applying fillings and frostings, decorating cookies and other baked items, and ensuring all products meet quality and presentation standards. The Cake Decorator will collaborate with the bakery team to manage orders, maintain a clean and safe workstation, and support inventory of decorating supplies. Regular interaction with customers and the front-of-house team is expected to confirm design details, provide product guidance, and help ensure a positive customer experience.
Qualifications
- Strong practical skills in Bakery and Baking, with experience producing consistent, high-quality baked goods.
- Demonstrated expertise in Cake Decorating, including piping, fondant work, and custom design execution.
- Ability to decorate and present Cookies and other baked items to a high visual and taste standard.
- Solid Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage custom requests, and handle feedback professionally.
- Attention to detail, creativity, and a strong sense of aesthetics in food presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple orders, and meet tight deadlines.
- Basic food hygiene knowledge; formal food safety certification is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a commercial bakery, patisserie, or cake shop is preferred.
