Salary Range: $44,890 – $71,646

Starting Rate: $44,890 with 15 Step Wage Scale

JOB DESCRIPTION

BROADCAST TECHNICIAN I

NON-EXEMPT

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position works under the direction of the Canton Community Productions Coordinator and is responsible for assisting the other technicians and staff in the daily operations of the Township’s government access station. Responsibilities include shooting, editing and playback of township programming. An employee in this position will be assigned to work days, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: (

* Perform audio and video capturing, editing and related functions associated with a variety of Township meetings, theater productions, and other events as assigned.

* Responsible for preparation of studio as assigned.

* Coordinate guest and interview scheduling.

* Perform studio opening and closing tasks as directed.

* Operate cable equipment including studio equipment, cameras, editors, and remote-control systems.

* Responsible for running audio board as assigned.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred.

* Minimum of one year experience converting and uploading videos to social media and the internet required (educational, professional and/or personal experience will be considered).

* Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns; which includes, but is not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license, or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving.

* Experience with the use of ENG cameras and Adobe editing systems.

* Experience recording, editing and replaying events and meetings required.

* Previous video production experience required.

* Skill in organizing self and others; ability to self-start in discharging responsibilities .

* Ability to work in adverse environmental, extreme weather and field conditions; ability to physically set-up, carry, and store necessary cable equipment used for taping programs and events.

* Must be self motivated, dependable, punctual and have an excellent work ethic.

* Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.

* Ability to communicate effectively and establish a good working relationship with the public, volunteers, and other employees.
