Custom Brand Service is a growing web design and digital marketing agency specializing in Shopify development, Google Ads management, and comprehensive digital marketing solutions. We manage a portfolio of approximately 160 clients across retail, fashion, and e-commerce industries. Our team includes brand managers, web administrators, designers, and a creative director working collaboratively to deliver exceptional results for our clients.

ROLE OVERVIEW

You are the marketing brain for your assigned brands. This is a leadership position where you set the marketing agenda, drive strategy, and develop deep 1:1 relationships with each client. You must truly understand each brand's voice, business objectives, and market position to provide expert marketing guidance.

This is NOT: An execution role focused on creating emails, updating websites, or administrative tasks.

You will delegate tactical work while maintaining strategic oversight.

This IS: A consultative leadership role where you advise clients, develop comprehensive marketing

strategies, build trusted relationships, and drive measurable business results.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Marketing Leadership (40% of time)

Own the marketing strategy for each assigned brand

Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and identify growth opportunities

Develop comprehensive monthly marketing plans aligned with business objectives

Set clear KPIs and track performance metrics

Proactively identify opportunities to expand client services or leverage new technologies

Present data-driven recommendations to clients with confidence

Challenge clients constructively when their requests don't align with marketing best practices

Time Allocation Target: 15-20 hours/week

2. Client Relationship Management (30% of time)

Build and maintain deep 1:1 relationships with every brand owner/decision-maker

Conduct regular strategic meetings (minimum bi-weekly, preferably weekly)

Truly understand each brand's voice, values, target audience, and competitive position

Act as trusted marketing advisor – clients should view you as their marketing expert

Proactively communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities

Manage client expectations with transparency and professionalism

Be comfortable being uncomfortable – have difficult conversations when needed about

budget, strategy, or performance

Time Allocation Target: 12-15 hours/week

3. Team Leadership & Project Oversight (20% of time)

Delegate email writing, web updates, and execution tasks to appropriate team members

Provide clear creative direction and brand guidelines to designers and web admins

Review and approve all client-facing deliverables for brand alignment

Mentor junior team members on brand strategy and client communication

Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between design, web, and strategy teams

Monitor project timelines and ensure delivery meets quality standards

Time Allocation Target: 8-10 hours/week

4. Brand Voice Development & Content Strategy (10% of time)

Document and maintain brand voice guidelines for each client

Ensure all marketing communications reflect authentic brand voice

Develop messaging frameworks and content pillars

Train team members on brand-specific communication standards-

Evolve brand positioning as market conditions change

Time Allocation Target: 4-5 hours/week

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Marketing Expertise

Minimum 3-5 years marketing experience, preferably with multiple brands

Deep understanding of email marketing, social media, content strategy, and digital advertising

Experience with Klaviyo, Shopify, Google Analytics, and Meta advertising platforms

Proven track record of driving measurable business results (revenue, engagement, conversions)

Strong analytical skills – comfortable interpreting data and making strategic recommendations

Leadership & Communication

Confidence to lead client conversations and set the marketing agenda

Excellent presentation skills – can articulate strategy clearly to clients

Comfortable having difficult conversations about budget, performance, or strategy changes

Strong project management and delegation skills

Ability to mentor and guide junior team members

Professional written and verbal communication

Relationship Building

Natural relationship builder who genuinely enjoys getting to know clients

Emotional intelligence and ability to read client needs/concerns

Proactive communicator who keeps clients informed

Maintain brand consistency across all touchpoints

WHAT YOU WILL NOT DO

To clarify expectations, brand managers should NOT be spending significant time on:

❌ Uploading products or updating website content (delegate to web admin)

❌ Creating graphics or designing emails (delegate to designers)

❌ Administrative tasks like organizing folders or updating spreadsheets

❌ Technical troubleshooting or website fixes

❌ Social media posting or content creation

You WILL: Provide strategic direction for all these activities, review final deliverables, and ensure they align with brand strategy.

SUCCESS METRICS (KPIs)

Client Relationship Metrics

40-50% of billable hours spent on client-facing work (meetings, strategy, communication)

Minimum bi-weekly strategic meetings with each brand

Client satisfaction scores consistently above 8/10

Client retention rate above 90%

Evidence of deepening client relationships (increased services, referrals, testimonials)

Strategic Leadership Metrics

Documented brand voice guidelines for 100% of assigned brands

Comprehensive monthly marketing plans delivered on time for all brands

Proactive strategy recommendations presented to clients (minimum 2 per client per quarter)

Measurable improvements in client KPIs (email open rates, conversion rates, revenue)

Successful identification of upsell opportunities or service expansions

Team Leadership Metrics

-Appropriate delegation of tactical tasks to team members

Quality of creative direction and feedback provided to team

Team member satisfaction with brand manager leadership

Reduction in brand manager time spent on execution tasks (target: <30%)

REQUIRED TOOLS & PLATFORMS

Must have working knowledge:

COMPENSATION & STRUCTURE

Position: Brand Manager (1099 Contractor, Remote)

Minimum Hours: 30-35 billable hours per week

Performance Reviews: Every 6 months
