Associate Buyer – Leathergoods Jobs in New York, NY at Adecco

Adecco Creative is partnering with a Global Fashion Brand to recruit for a Contract Associate Buyer role. This position will be 6 months with a potential to extend and a hybrid schedule in Midtown Manhattan.

Primary Purpose: The Associate Buyer will execute buying strategies for North America Collection Handbags. This is a great opportunity for an individual with outstanding analytical and communication skills, who is strategic and operational.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in buying to:

  • Drive financial results that maximize revenue, gross margin, inventory turn goals through the development of merchandising and planning strategies for Women’s Handbags.
  • Execute buy process from concept to completion, including partnership in product development, implementation of regional merchandising strategies and financial planning of sales/inventory
  • Influence category assortments by analyzing product performance, customer feedback (from stores and digitally), consumer trend, competitive landscape, and local market knowledge to global merchants/design
  • Manage OTB to meet financial targets at the SKU level for sales, inventory & margin via SKU level sales planning
  • Work closely with Inventory Management and Allocation to ensure that inventory turn goals are met and assortments by door are maximized
  • Initiate and generate business analysis to track selling, identify key trends and maximize opportunities in the assortment to achieve continued growth and profitability
  • Continuously analyze and reforecast business and implement strategies to ensure plan is achieved, including making suggestions to adjust product flow and optimize inventory across stores and ecommerce
  • Manage SKU lifecycle from adoption to delete, react to in season sales to determine go forward strategy making recommendations to chase, cancel or adjust future strategy based on in season sales
  • Strong understanding of luxury handbag trends, silhouette evolution, pricing architecture, and customer demand
  • Partner with field team to solicit qualitative feedback on product, customers, store environments & competition

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales performance, inventory productivity, customer trends, and market insights to drive business decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize data and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Comfortable presenting business performance, opportunities, and risks to leadership.
  • B.A. or B.S. required
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in buying, merchandising, planning, retail, or related experience, preferably within luxury, fashion, accessories, or handbags
