Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas School of Communication seeks two Assistant Professors of Journalism in the area of Multimedia Journalism. These are nine‑month appointments. The successful candidates must be committed to teaching in a liberal arts environment and intent on maintaining an active artistic and scholarly life. The Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. These positions are governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Screening of applications will begin January 5, 2026, and continue until the positions are filled. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2026.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to) teaching courses in news writing, news reporting, online journalism, broadcast journalism, photography, publication design, media convergence, and media law, as well as supervision of student media.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of video and audio editing, online reporting, web development, and social media is essential. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and other editing systems, as well as web development software.

Education and/or Experience

A terminal degree or significant progress toward a terminal degree in Journalism or a related field is required.

Preferred

Education and/or Experience

Professional experience in Journalism as well as college teaching experience preferred. A research background is preferred with a relevant professional or scholarly record.
