Assistant Merchant

Serena & Lily is seeking an Assistant Merchant to join our Merchandising team in Sausalito, California. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in merchandising while gaining hands-on experience across assortment planning, pricing, retail business operations, and merchandising strategy.
As an Assistant Merchant, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and execution of product assortments that reflect the Serena & Lily brand and deliver exceptional customer experiences. You will serve as a key partner to merchants and cross-functional teams, ensuring product information, pricing, samples, and assortment tools are managed with accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of seasonal assortment strategies that drive sales, profitability, and brand growth.
- Maintain product assortment tools, SKU lists, visual assortment documents and merchandising systems with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Coordinate SKU creation, product setup, and ongoing maintenance across systems.
- Own the photo sample ordering and tracking process, partnering closely with vendors, Creative, and Photography teams to support marketing and catalog production.
- Manage promotional pricing uploads and ensure accurate execution across channels.
- Coordinate product information and launch readiness with cross-functional partners including Planning, Sourcing, Design, Creative, and E-Commerce.
- Monitor product performance, customer feedback, market trends, and competitive activity to identify opportunities and risks.
- Support analysis of sales, margin, and inventory performance to inform merchandising decisions.
- Prepare visual line sheets, assortment presentations, and business review materials.
- Maintain key merchandising calendars and ensure critical milestones are met.
- Build strong relationships across the organization and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong interest in building a career in retail merchandising.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
- Passion for home interiors, business strategy, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Compensation:
- $70k – 75K per year is the anticipated starting base pay for this role. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: experience, education, and skills.

Employees can enroll in our company’s 401k plan. During the first year of employment, full-time employees accrue twenty-one days of PTO and seven paid holidays throughout the year.
