Location: Melbourne / Hybrid
Contract Length: 1 Month minimum (Potential to extend up to 3 months, with long-term potential for Christmas support)
Day Rate: Competitive daily rate (based on experience)

The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented and adaptable Freelance Art Director to step in immediately and support two of Australia’s most iconic and well-loved retail brands. In this fast-paced contract role, you will work within established brand guidelines to deliver high-impact digital and printed assets. If you are a star performer who fits the culture seamlessly, there is strong potential to extend this contract to cover a critical Christmas campaign period, alongside opportunities to lead upcoming photoshoots.
Key Deliverables
Digital First: Lead the art direction for digital catalogues and targeted email campaigns.
In-Store Impact: Concept and execute printed Point of Sale (POS) elements.
Brand Stewardship: Seamlessly work within the existing look, feel, and design systems of both retail brands.
Cross-Category Creative: Direct assets across a diverse mix of categories including Apparel, General Merchandise (Still Life), and Toys.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome candidates with a broad retail background or those with deep, specialised experience in specific categories (e.g., dedicated Fashion Art Directors).
Your Skillset
- Retail DNA: Proven experience working in a fast-paced retail creative environment (agency or in-house).
- Tech Savvy: High-level competency and speed in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Stakeholder Savvy: Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to manage stakeholders and present ideas clearly.
- Eye for Detail: Ability to maintain strict brand consistency while keeping the creative fresh and engaging.
- Shoot Experience (Bonus): On-set photoshoot direction experience is highly regarded, as the right candidate may be extended to lead shoots.

Growth Potential: What starts as a 1-month contract has the very real potential to stretch into a 3-month stint and lead into major Christmas campaign support.
