ABOUT BELLWEATHER

Bellweather is a creative agency for legacy brands: the nonprofits, cultural institutions, healthcare systems, and government organizations that are part of people’s lives. We’ve spent a decade helping these organizations find what makes them matter and bringing it to life through immersive research, artistic collaboration, and creative work that doesn’t look or feel like anyone else’s.

Our clients include Brooklyn Public Library, MetroPlusHealth, Museum Hue, NYC Votes, and Visit Baltimore, among others. We're a certified woman-owned business and a Webby Award–winning agency.

Our work starts with immersive research and deep listening. We spend time in communities, collaborating with artists, poets, photographers, and filmmakers to find what makes an organization extraordinary. From there, we build strategic platforms and brand identities that our clients can own and carry forward long after the engagement ends.

ABOUT THE NAME

Our name combines "bellwether" (a leading indicator) and "weather" (constant change). We help organizations find what makes them extraordinary and give it a platform that lasts.

HOW WE WORK

Bellweather is a fully remote company. Our team is distributed across the U.S., with most of our collaboration happening in Eastern time. We've built our workflows, meetings, and creative process around remote work from the start.

THE ROLE

This role exists because our clients need a trusted partner, someone who grows relationships, not just manages them.

As Account Director, you're the person clients call when they need a thought partner or someone to cut through the noise. Day-to-day, that means leading campaigns from brief to delivery, keeping budgets and timelines honest, and connecting strategy, digital, and creative teams around a shared direction.

Six months in, success looks like clients who feel genuinely served, internal teams who trust your lead, and work that consistently goes out the door on time and on brief.

If you thrive on building relationships and can hold the big picture without losing sight of the details—this one's for you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead day-to-day client engagements, integrated campaigns, and cross-functional teams across complex, multi-channel projects — from brand and digital to strategy
  • Collaborate with the Director of Research and Strategy, Digital Director, Creative Services Manager, and Project Managers to align on scopes, resourcing, and deliverables from kickoff to delivery
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships and the internal processes, communication workflows, and account operations that keep work running smoothly
  • Guide the development of creative briefs, ensuring all work is rooted in client insight and strategic thinking before a single concept is made
  • Manage account-level budgets and profitability, flagging risks early and identifying opportunities to grow the scope of work
  • Partner with internal teams to shape and deliver compelling presentations and proposals, and facilitate productive, high-stakes conversations with C-suite executives.
  • Mentor junior account team members, delegating responsibilities thoughtfully and supporting their professional growth
  • Assist in media planning and placement discussions, bringing a working knowledge of the full marketing ecosystem to every client conversation
  • Support the Chief Strategy Officer with project resourcing as needed, helping match the right talent to the right work

______________________________

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 6+ years of experience in account management at a marketing, advertising, or creative agency
  • A portfolio that shows a track record of growing client relationships and leading complex, multi-channel campaigns with budgets of $2M+
  • Confident and polished presenter — comfortable leading high-stakes conversations with C-suite executives, both virtually and in person
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy, marketing communications, and the creative process from brief to delivery
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, budgets, and deadlines without dropping the ball
  • Analytical mindset with familiarity across research, strategy, and measurement practices
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior account staff

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience working with clients in healthcare, nonprofit, government, or cultural institutions
  • Familiarity with media planning and placement processes
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, remote-first environment with a proactive, entrepreneurial approach

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Comprehensive health benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Unlimited/Flexible PTO
  • Fully remote work environment with flexible scheduling, subject to change based on organizational needs.
